Providing for a Family of 5 within 24 hours of Request

We had an urgent request from a Bournemouth Health Visitor for a family yesterday:-

“This is a family of 5. There are three children: 2.5year old girl, 16 months old boy & 4 months old girl. The children would benefit from some clothing and also some toys. We would need clothes in 3-4 years for the girl, 2-3 years for the boy and also some 6-9 & 9-12 for the baby girl. I am also aware that the couple needs shoes for their little boy- he is size 6.

The little baby girl desperately needs a snow suit/ coat as the one she is currently wearing is far too small for her.

The family does not have toys for the children; therefore anything would be greatly appreciated. I have managed to secure a play mat for the little baby.

I think the family needs a double buggy as currently they are using a single buggies; however this does not allow the mother to go out alone with the kids.

Baby girl is still sleeping in a moses basket. Is there any chance we could try and provide this family with a cot and bedding to go with it?

Any help and support from your site will be greatly appreciated”

Within 24 hours,we put a call out for the above items, and collected some toys from our lock up, and the family received it all this afternoon.

Response received – “Thank you for all your help. I have delivered all to the family this afternoon. Mother was really grateful and the children extremely happy. Been smiling and dancing while playing.
Thank you for all your help and support. ”

Thank you to everyone who donated

Charity Donation from a 5 Year old Local Boy!

Wow – what a heartwarming email to wake up to ……. “My son recently celebrated his 5th birthday; he was very lucky to have received lots of gifts from friends and family, particularly given all he and his baby sister received over Christmas. I am keen for him to develop and maintain an awareness of the reality other people experience and learn about giving, as well as receiving from, kindness to others. Therefore instead of spending money on thank you cards and the postage, we agreed to give the money towards helping children who are not as lucky as he and his sister. I came across your organisation and it fits perfectly with a cause I had in mind – helping to ensure children still get to have moments as a child despite any complex challenges they maybe experiencing in their lives. It’s only a nominal amount, but having worked in the charity sector myself, I know every pound counts. And perhaps it is a tradition my son and I could go on to have each year! Spreading the word costs nothing though and I have shared information about the amazing work you do with the parents of all the party guests and beyond.

It’s clear from just reading your website how much drive and compassion you all have to reach out to those who may feel unreachable. I’ve no doubt this work is rewarding but I also have no doubt it comes with huge challenges and heartache. So keep up the great work. ”

Thank you so much – your donation means so much to us!!!

Local Pre-School appreciate help with one of their Families

Another appreciative comment received today – “So today we were supported again by Ashley’s birthday bank. Coming to the rescue for a family in need at short notice with a pram for their newborn and other things they urgently need. Thank you to Lynn who it was lovely to meet at last and who is as quoted by our parent ‘an angel’ 😊.
Keep up your amazing work and yet again thank you is not enough xxx”

Local Donations to Start our New Year!!

Thank you to Waitrose in Christchurch for choosing us as one of their Green Token Recipients – and to everyone who voted for us. We received a cheque for £269.00, which will be used to continue to help local families with the supply of food, baby equipment, clothing, toys etc.

We were also lucky enough to be chosen as one of the recipients of a share of the Christmas Collection from Expresso Kitchen in Bournemouth and received £90.00!

Every penny raised goes direct to the local families who need it – we are all volunteers who fundraise to keep our Charity going, so we are very grateful for every donation we receive.
