AFCB Supporting Families In Poverty

We were welcomed to AFCB Pitchside last week to accept our cheque from AFCB Cherries Community Fund. This money was granted to pay for beds, and while we were sat in their reception, we had referrals come in for 6 beds for different families. Reasons being – child at risk who was sleeping on an old mattress on the floor, a child who had witnessed domestic violence and was awarded custody to the other parent with no bed to sleep on, and a family who had been homeless and now been given a new home to settle in. Thank you AFCB

Thank you to Everyone

Thank you again to everyone who supported us during the Christmas period. The parents and children who received gifts and food were overwhelmed with everyone’s kindness. These are just a few of the messages we received –

“I am sending you all a BIG THANKYOU after I saw Mum for “T” last week. Both mum and child were over the moon with the food and gifts you delivered to them for Christmas. Honestly, mum was absolutely made up. Thank you so very much”;

“Well you two have just helped this single mum out more than you will ever know, I am so so grateful. My shopping has just come and I am having to re-arrange my cupboards to try and make it all fit.”;

“I collected the sack of presents this afternoon and have already called mum to let her know I will drop them off. She was absolutely thrilled and wanted me to pass on her gratitude. To say she was overwhelmed by the help she received was an understatement”;

“Another boy who has been through a really tough time came in saying that he had taken his toy to bed every night since Christmas, this made him feel safe and that he now had company.”

“Two Mummies came to say that the presents were what had made Christmas as otherwise there would have been nothing for their children.”

Between us all, Wave 105 Mission Christmas, generous members of the public, and local companies, we did it!! Thank you!!

Local Company Stepped In

Huge thanks to Monkey Madness in Christchurch. We popped in to see if we could buy two tickets for a birthday treat for two children in poverty, and they kindly donated them plus food vouchers and sweet cones. We have also provided birthday presents and Lynn made a cake for them The children are going to be so excited! Thank you
