Busy Month of Referrals – Children in Poverty in our Area

Busy busy month – 8 birthday presents for children in the refuge, or children in poverty who would have gone without; a single bed, double bed and fridge freezer for a family in the refuge who have been re-housed; baby clothes, nappies and essentials box for a young care leaver who has just become a mum; a food shop for a mum struggling to pay her bills, who had run out of food for her children; a pram for a baby who’s mum had little funds; baby milk and fresh fruit & vegetables for a mum in poverty who wanted to make fresh baby food for her little one; 5 x school uniform requests for families in poverty; clothing and toys for a child in the human trafficking refuge; 2 x childrens bed, fridge, freezer, and a single bed for a family who have been homeless and now been re-homed; 4 x weekly food shops for families in poverty; a pushchair for a mum who was in debt and living in temporary accommodation; a bouncy chair for a child in poverty; a cot for a child in poverty; a mattress for a child who was sleeping on a blanket on the bed base; 2 x prams, moses baskets, bouncy chairs, clothes, toys and nappies for two babies in the human trafficking refuge; a storage unit for a family in poverty; 2 x single mattresses and bunk beds for a single parent living in one room; 2 x skateboards for teenagers who’s mum was worried they had nothing to keep them occupied over the Summer; premature clothing for a baby in the refuge; a fridge freezer and a food shop for a single parent in poverty; a fridge freezer, food shop and washing machine/tumber dryer for two teenagers who had been left to fend for themselves; a £200 food shop for a family who had taken in children from a family member when they were found going through bins for food and removed from their parent; a small cot for a baby in the refuge; a food shop, hoover, and toys for children who had witnessed domestic violence; 2 x single beds for a family moving out of the refuge; 2 x Primark vouchers for mums in the refuge with no clothing; 3 x single beds, washing machine and fridge freezer for a family in poverty and clothing for a family in the human trafficking refuge.
